Hathorne -"Why do you hurt these children
Martha -"I do not hurt them, I scorn them!!!"
Giles-"I HAVE EVIDENCE OF THE COURT!!!"
Danforth -"You will keep your seat!
Giles -"Thomas Putnam is reaching out for land!!!
Danforth -"Remove that man! Marshal!!
Giles -"Your hearing lies, LIES!!!!!!"
From what was going on i can try and predict that Giles knows the truth behind Thomas Putnam. Either that or what he's yelling about is completely irrelevant to this case being solved in court about Martha being a witch. Obviously he feels very strongly about the whole thing in general and he's trying to expose his known truth to the rest of the jury. I'm assuming he's either crazed or out of order for he is removed for disrupting the court one too many times while the case was in effect. His impudence and shouting caused an uproar in the audience most likely sturring curiosity and criticism from the masses listening in the court room. I also figure all he wants to do is save his wife but his irrelevance and roaring made the judge think otherwise looking until Giles as a man swayed by his feelings.
Abigail - "Oh heavenly father, take away this shadow!!!"
Without warning or hesitation, PROCTOR leaps at ABIGAIL and, grabbing her by the hair, pulls her to her feet. She screams in pain. DANFORTH, astonished, cries "What are you about?!" and HATHORNE and PARRIS call, "Take your hands off of her!" and out of it all comes PROCTOR'S roaring voice...
How do you call Heaven! Whore! WHORE!!!
Herrick - "John!
Danforth - Man! Man what do you-
Proctor - "It is a whore!!!"
Proctor assaults Abigail in this scene with great passion of anger and intensity. Herrick has to pull him off of her for Parris and Hathorne's cries to let go failed to reach this man. He is enraged and in fury at Abigail calling out to the heavens and calls her a whore relentlessly with no seen intent of letting this situation die. He believes that Abigail and Mary are pretending an causing a serious and unneeded conundrum of epic proportions and is using his own hand to stop it from happening any further only to look crazy and insane. This whole scene seems like it would be pretty unreal. A good example of phantasmagoria or in simple terms and optical illusion.
